Boys with locomotor disabilities above the age of 10 live in this home and attend four different local government schools, studying in Bengali medium from Class V to Class XII.
This year, three boys underwent surgical interventions in Kolkata to improve their mobility and are currently receiving post-operative care. All the children participate in physiotherapy sessions every morning and attend school with the support of assistive aids and appliances. The orthopedic workshop provides them with necessary appliances.
Throughout the week, they learn computer skills, drawing, singing, and Taekwondo. They attend Taekwondo class on Sunday mornings and watch TV in the evening.
After school each day, they take care of their garden before playing football or cricket in the compound. The Didis and Dadas help them with their homework. Every morning, the boys assist in the kitchen by making chapatis and cutting vegetables.
Jordighi Home has a kitchen garden, rice field, and pond, where the boys learn to grow vegetables, harvest crops, and fish, helping them work towards self-sufficiency.
During the week, the children take part in different activities and chores. They help with cleaning their rooms and the dining hall, washing the dishes, cooking and gardening. They go to their own school and when coming back they can spend time indoor or outdoor to play. Children have a study time every evening and also enjoy some dancing and drawing classes.
