Baksara Homes boys Renovation

On ne l’attendait plus ! La rénovation du foyer des garçons de Baksarah a enfin été achevée en cette fin mars. Après plus de huit mois de travaux, entrecoupés de longues périodes d’arrêt dues à des problèmes de communication, les garçons ont enfin pu retrouver leurs quartiers pour affronter l’été à venir. Pour rappel, durant les travaux, les garçons ainsi que les dadas logeaient dans les combles de l’école de Baksarah. Un étage exigu et étroit, qui s’était révélé une solution acceptable pour l’hiver, mais absolument inadapté à la chaleur de l’été indien.

The renovation of the boys' dormitory in Baksarah was finally completed at the end of March. After more than eight months of work—interrupted by long periods of downtime due to communication issues—the boys have finally been able to return to their quarters to face the coming summer.

As a reminder, during the renovation, the boys and the dadas were housed in the attic of the Baksarah school. A cramped and narrow floor, which turned out to be an acceptable solution for the winter, but completely unsuitable for the heat of the Indian summer.

Le bâtiment est désormais comme neuf ! Le toit et sa structure ont été entièrement remplacés, la façade a été rénovée, un nouveau plafond a été installé, la peinture rafraîchie, l’électricité et la plomberie complètement modernisées, et certaines fenêtres ont été murées pour une meilleure isolation.Nous tenons à remercier chaleureusement nos donateurs, grâce à qui cette rénovation a pu voir le jour. Elle profitera grandement aux garçons de Baksarah !

Une mention toute spéciale aux garçons de Baksarah, à Animesh da et à Sandjip da, qui ont tenu bon durant ces huit mois passés dans les combles, et ont su garder le moral malgré les conditions ! Pour marquer leur réinstallation, une messe a été célébrée par le Père Laurent, en présence du Père Alain Bourdery, prêtre des MEP en visite à HSP.

The building now looks brand new! The roof and its structure have been completely replaced, the façade has been renovated, a new ceiling has been installed, the paint has been refreshed, and both the electrical and plumbing systems have been fully modernized. Some windows were also sealed off to improve insulation.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our donors, without whom this renovation would not have been possible. It will greatly benefit the boys of Baksarah!

A special mention goes to the boys of Baksarah, to Animesh da and Sandjip da, who held strong during these eight months spent in the attic and managed to keep their spirits up despite the conditions!

To mark their return, a mass was celebrated by Father Laurent, in the presence of Father Alain Bourdery, an MEP priest visiting HSP.
